An endoscope system which comprises: an imaging element (21) which images an optical image transmitted by a fiber bundle (13); an image signal output unit (28) which outputs an image signal generated by the imaging element (21); a video processor (30) which processes the image signal; an image signal reception unit (29) which is provided on the video processor (30); a connection detection unit (36) which detects connection of the image signal output unit (28) to the video processor (30); a moire removal unit (34) which removes moire in the image signal; and a control unit (37) which causes the moire removal unit (34) to perform a processing operation when connection of the image signal output unit (28) is detected.
