Between the insulating layer of e.g. bonded glass fibre felt laid on the support and the cement mortar floor slab is a protective layer at least partially permeable to excess water in the cement mortar but not to the passage of solid particles of cement, sand, etc., constituent of the mortar. Specif. the protective layer may be integral with the insulating layer, thus at the upper part of it. It may be formed by impregnating the surface of the fibrous layer with impermeable material in such a way as to produce the required porosity.
