A concrete mix comprises cement, water, and a fine aggregate having a grain size less than 3 mm. and a bulk density less than 0À1 and bloated clay of size 3-30 mm. An air entraining agent or plasticizer, such as a sulphonated mineral, vegetable or animal oil or a natural or synthetic resin, can also be included. Suitable fine aggregates are expanded cork, expanded phenolic resins and expanded polystyrene. Panels or slabs of the above composition containing cork as the fine aggregate and having a thickness of 0À12 metre can be faced with a 0À04 metre thick layer of ornamental reinforced concrete.</p> |
