PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel system for inputting information and commands by a user in a motor vehicle using hand gestures.SOLUTION: A method of receiving inputs from a user include a step 402 of providing a surface within the reach of the user's hands. A plurality of positions on the surface touched by the user are detected (404). The English numeral having the closest shape to the touched positions on the surface are determined (406). The user is aurally or visually informed of the English numeral and/or a word containing the English numeral (408). When the English numeral and/or the word is decided on at the deciding step, feedback is received from the user as to whether or not it is an English numeral and/or a word desired by the user (410). |
