<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double-head side surface milling machine which can achieve high dimensional accuracy and good surface roughness even when a thin-plate workpiece is cut from both front and back surfaces.SOLUTION: A clamp mechanism includes a lower jig 3 which is fixed onto a working table 2 and mounted with a workpiece W in a standing state, a plurality of o upper jig plates 6 which press the workpiece on the lower jig 3 from above and an upper clamp cylinder 5 which lifts and lowers the upper jig plates 6. For the upper jig plates 6, narrow ones are arranged in parallel along the longitudinal direction of the workpiece W, and adjacent upper jig plates 6 are arranged in contact with each other or with a fine gap between them and provided with a fixation guide plate 41 which comes in contact with one side of the upper jig plates 6 during ascending and descending of the upper jig plates 6. Since the individual upper jig plates 6 a little fluctuate right and left, the upper end edge of the workpiece W adheres easily along the shape, even when not being flat, leading to reduced possibility of chatter.</p> |
