The present invention relates to a vehicle air conditioning device and a method for controlling the same and, more specifically, to a vehicle air conditioning device and a method for controlling the same, wherein: when, in an air conditioning case having a back seat cool air control door installed in a back seat air channel, a position of the back seat cool air control door is controlled according to a back seat air conditioning mode (a back seat temperature control mode), the position of the back seat cool air control door is variably controlled according to a position of a front seat temperature control door, so as to preventing a large amount of cool air from passing through the back seat air channel in the back seat temperature control mode, dissatisfaction with back seat temperature control can be addressed and passenger's comfort can be improved through the uniformity of a back seat discharge temperature; and when the position of the back seat temperature control door in association with the position of the front seat temperature control door in back seat temperature control on the basis of operation of a back seat temperature control switch is controlled, a difference between the back seat discharge temperature and a front seat discharge temperature is not large, so that by minimizing an influence of the back seat discharge temperature on the front seat, the comfort of the front seat passenger can be improved, and the comfort of a back seat passenger can also be improved, and an operating period of an air conditioner can be reduced, thereby improving fuel efficiency.
