A radio communication system comprises a plurality of base stations that transmit/receive radio signals to/from a terminal. The base stations each comprise: radio units each of which uses a scheduled radio resource to transmit a downstream signal to the terminal and to receive an upstream signal from the terminal and that forms a cell having predetermined identification information; and a centralized unit that includes a scheduler for allocating the radio resource to the terminal and determining a radio unit that is to use the allocated radio resource to transmit the signal, the centralized unit processing the signals transmitted/received by the radio units. The scheduler detects the position of the currently moving terminal and changes the identification information of a cell, toward which the terminal is moving, to the identification information of the cell in which the terminal has been detected.
