PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel melanism promoter for skin and/or hair, an external preparation, and a food and drink in which the safety is ensured in practical use by using the plant of natural origin, exhibiting an excellent effect on promoting melanism of the skin and hair.SOLUTION: A melanism promoter is an extract obtained by supplying leaves and stem parts of Angelica furcijuga Kitagawa belonging to Apiaceae Angelica into a solution of water: 1,3 butylene glycol (1:1) to perform extraction. This melanism promoter shows an excellent effect on promoting melanism of the skin and hair.
