PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience of manufacture by improving the sensitivity and resolution of a multireflection mass spectrometer.SOLUTION: A multireflection time-of-flight (MR-TOF) mass spectrometer comprises two pseudo plane electrostatic ion mirrors which extend in a drift direction (Z) and formed from parallel electrodes and separated by an electric field absent region. The MR-TOF comprises a pulsation ion source that emits an ion packet at a small angle in an X direction vertical to the drift direction Z. The ion packet is reflected between the ion mirrors and drifted in the drift direction. The mirrors are disposed in such a manner that the ion packet is converged within the time of flight on a receiver. The MR-TOF mirror provides spatial convergence in a Y direction vertical to both the drift direction Z and the ion implantation direction X. In a preferred embodiment, at least one mirror includes a feature part for cyclic spatial convergence of the ion packet in the drift direction Z. |
