PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method using a treatment liquid that can secure storage stability and curling resistance while maintaining an ability of aggregating a colorant in an aqueous recording ink.SOLUTION: The image forming method includes: treatment liquid application means to apply a treatment liquid on a recording medium; and recording ink application means to apply an aqueous recording ink on the recording medium. The treatment liquid does not contain a colorant but contains at least either an organic acid salt or a cationic resin, a water-soluble organic solvent, and water. The water-soluble organic solvent comprises at least one compound selected from sodium poly-γ-glutamate, N-acyl fatty acid-sodium L-glutamate, sodium N-lauroyl-L-aspartate, and a compound expressed by general formula 1. The aqueous recording ink comprises at least a colorant, a water-soluble organic solvent, a surfactant, a carboxyl group-containing resin, and water. |
