This image processing method detects a pedicle region which has a higher pixel value than the surroundings thereof in an ABC classification of step S2 (pedicle detection). If an intervertebral disc cannot be detected due to collapse of the intervertebral disc, etc., a boundary is drawn that comes in contact with the cervical vertebrae side of the pedicle which is detected in the above ABC classification of step S2 (pedicle detection) in the ABC classification of step S2 (boundary drawing). Consequently, the boundary between vertebral bodies can be accurately detected, even if the intervertebral disc is collapsed or the intervertebral disc cannot be detected. Thus, performance of detecting correct boundaries is improved, frequency of manual correction by a user is reduced, and throughput is improved. |
