PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means for improving a winch, especially hooking of a rope for a passenger elevator.SOLUTION: A rope (10) for a winch has width wider than thickness in a rope traverse direction and has a load support part (11) formed of a composite material. The composite material has a reinforcement fiber (F) formed of carbon fiber or glass fiber, and dispersed in a polymer matrix (M) and coupled each other by the polymer matrix, and the reinforcement fiber is oriented in a rope longitudinal direction. The elevator has a traction sheave, an elevator car, and a rope system for moving the car by the traction sheave, and the rope system has one or more ropes (10), and the width of the ropes is wider than thickness in the rope traverse direction, and the ropes have the load support part (11) formed of the composite material, respectively. The composite material comprises the reinforcement fiber (F) dispersed in the polymer matrix (M) and coupled each other by the polymer matrix, and the reinforcement fiber is formed of the carbon fiber or glass fiber and is oriented in the rope longitudinal direction. |
