PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly accurate and reliable method for detecting water leakage facilitating installation of a sensor without being affected by presence/absence of a manhole, and a water leakage detection device.SOLUTION: A method for detecting water leakage according to the present invention includes: a vibration sensor unit 1 including vibration sensors 12a and 12b; and an antenna unit 2 including an antenna 21. The vibration sensor unit 1 is disposed under the ground; the antenna unit 2 is disposed on the ground surface other than a manhole installation place; and the vibration sensor unit 1 and the antenna unit 2 are connected with a cable. The vibration sensor unit 1 collects measurement data of vibration measured by the vibration sensors 12a and 12b, and transmits the collected measurement data via the antenna unit 2 installed on the ground surface to a controller unit 4 on the ground by short-range radio communication 23 so as to fetch the data. |
