Provided in embodiments of the present invention are a method and device for channel bandwidth selection. The method comprises: acquiring the priority of a second BSS and a channel bandwidth of the second BSS that has an overlap in the coverage range thereof with the coverage range of a first BSS; if the priority of the first BSS is greater than or equal to the priority of the second BSS, determining a channel bandwidth that is greater than or equal to the channel bandwidth of the second BSS to serve as the channel bandwidth of the first BSS, and, if the priority of the first BSS is lower than the priority of the second BSS, determining a channel bandwidth that is less than the channel bandwidth of the second BSS to serve as the channel bandwidth of the first BSS. The technical solution of the present invention determines the channel bandwidths between the BSS's on the basis of the priorities of the BSS's, thus ensuring that a high-priority BSS is given priority in occupying a large bandwidth, and implementing reasonable allocation of channel bandwidths for the BSS's.
