Provided in an embodiment of the present invention are a host route acquisition method, device and system, the host route acquisition method comprising: a first gateway device receives a first address resolution protocol (ARP) request packet sent by a first host, the first ARP request packet comprising an internet protocol (IP) address of a second host; if the first gateway device determines that no route exists corresponding to the IP address of the second host, then the first gateway device broadcasts a first border gateway protocol (BGP) update packet, the first BGP update packet comprising type identification information and the IP address of the second host, such that a second gateway device issues to the first gateway device, according to the first BGP update packet, a route corresponding to the IP address of the second host; the first gateway device receives and saves the route corresponding to the IP address of the second host issued by the second gateway device. The embodiment of the present invention allows a gateway device in a virtual subnet to obtain a route of a host attached to the gateway device as required.
