<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for controlling adsorption/desorption of a charged substance, in which device the charged substance can freely be removed/recovered at a desired time, to provide a waste water treatment device in which waste water can be treated at a comparatively low price and to provide an electrode.SOLUTION: A device 10 for controlling adsorption/desorption of the charged substance, which is used for controlling adsorption/desorption of the charged substance from/to a solution 3 containing the charged substance, includes: the electrodes 1, 2 which are disposed separately from each other and contacted with the solution 3 containing the charged substance; a control part 4 for controlling the potential of each of the electrodes 1, 2; and a surface charge variable material 13 disposed to be contacted with the solution 3, at the least. The surface charge variable material 13 has such a property that the surface charge is changed according to the pH of the surrounding thereof in the solution 3. The control part 4 changes the potential of the electrode 1 or 2 to control an electrochemical reaction, which accompanies generation or consumption of a hydrogen ion or a hydroxide ion on the electrode 1 or 2, and changes the pH in the vicinity of the electrode 1 or 2 to adsorb/desorb the charged substance to be contained in the solution 3 on/from the surface charge variable material 13.</p> |
