The present invention provides a laundry treating apparatus and a control method thereof. The control method of the laundry treating apparatus of the present invention includes the steps of: controlling the drum to rotate at a first speed by accelerating the drum; braking the drum; accelerating the drum at a second speed; detecting a current applied to the motor during the drum is accelerated at the second speed; and determining the quantity of bags based on the current detected in the current detection step. |
