A method of retrofitting a pressline (100) over time, the pressline (100) comprising a plurality of press units (101) designed to operate in a two-around printing mode, the method comprising:
selecting a press unit (101) in said pressline (100);
replacing first plate cylinders (10; 13; 1801) of said press unit with corresponding second plate cylinders (600) having generally the same length, diameter, and circumferences as the first plate cylinders (10; 13; 1801) but having only a single plate (601), while making no further modifications to the press unit;
repeating said steps of selecting and replacing on all press units in said pressline;
printing pages on all other press units (101) in said pressline (100) while said repeating is ongoing utilizing a two-around mode; and
printing pages on said pressline in three-around mode either once all first plate cylinders (10; 13; 1801) in all press units (101) of the pressline (100) have been replaced, or when the first plate cylinders (10; 13; 1801) have been replaced in all but one of said press units (101) of the pressline (100). |
