<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle white line recognition apparatus capable of properly selecting a white line to be a controlled object. <P>SOLUTION: A compound line determination part 70 executes pattern matching to each of white line candidates whose likelihood output by a white line feature integration part 60 is equal to or more than a prescribed threshold and determines a pitch of a broken-line in response to the number of votes of Hough transformation by a white line candidate extraction part 30. On the basis of the results, the compound line determination part 70 outputs a certainty factor distribution summarizing parameters indicating a probability that a while line belongs to a certain line type for each of various line types so as to determine a line type of the white line.
