<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper money processing apparatus which is capable of preventing paper moneys from being scattered inside a housing of the paper money processing apparatus by preventing a paper money from jumping out of a paper money accumulation area in a money reception/payment section when feeding the paper money from the inside of the housing to the paper money accumulation area. <P>SOLUTION: A paper money processing apparatus 10 includes a money reception/payment section 20, an external shutter 14 and an internal shutter 60. The money reception/payment section 20 is provided inside a housing 12 and has a paper money accumulation area which can be accessed from the outside of the housing 12 via an opening 12a of the housing 12 and in which paper moneys are accumulated. The money reception/payment section 20 feeds paper moneys accumulated in the paper money accumulation area to the inside of the housing 12 and accumulates paper moneys fed from the inside the housing 12 into the paper money accumulation area. The external shutter 14 is provided in the housing 12 and opens/closes the opening 12a of the housing 12.
