A tracking system includes tracking device 10, possibly wearable, a controller 17, device charger 12 and remote server 14. The controller may be associated with the domicile of the user, who may be a patient such as a dementia sufferer or an offender on parole, whom requires tracking. The tracking device may be paired with the charger and controller; the location of the device is communicated to the remote server via a cellular network. The system also comprises acoustic monitors 16. The monitors act as an additional check to determine if the user has left the building, or someone else has entered, by comparing received sounds with those on an acoustic signature database which may contain the sound of; a door closing, doorbell, childrens voices, footsteps etc. As the user leaves the premises an audible or visual alert is given as a reminder to retrieve the tracking device with an alert being sent to the remote server after a predetermined time. |
