<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable navigation device which can properly notify a user of a movement state of the user moving on a retrieved route. <P>SOLUTION: A portable navigation device comprises: a map information storage unit 101 for storing map information including road information; a reception unit 102 for receiving departure place information and destination information; a route search unit 103 for searching for a route from a departure place to a destination to acquire route information; a display unit 104 for displaying a navigation screen; a current location information acquisition unit 107 for acquiring current location information; a determination unit 108 for determining whether a current location meets conditions specified in advance for the route indicated by the route information; and an output unit 109 for performing output according to a determination result by the determination unit 108.
