In a lower free arm sewing machine of the rotary hook type the under thread 10 emerges from the bobbin case 12 by a slot 25 and out adjacent the needle plate through a hole 41 such that when the under thread is pulled it is downwardly cammed by and angled plate 39 to lie below the thread tensioner 27 which is urged towards the bobbin case by the spring 28. Once this is achieved the machine is turned by hand to pull the under thread up through the hole 6 in the needle plate by means of the needle thread.</p> |
