The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing mesenchymal stem cells, which mass-produce human transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) and have immuno-modulating activity, mesenchymal stem cells manufactured by the method, and a cell therapeutic agent composition containing the mesenchymal stem cells for preventing or treating immune diseases, wherein the method includes treating the mesenchymal stem cells, of which CD105, CD29 and CD44 are positive immunological features and CD34, CD45 and HLA-DR are negative immunological features, with metformin, and cultivating the metformin-treated mesenchymal stem cells at a temperature of 28-42°C for 14-21 days. The metformin-treated mesenchymal stem cells having immuno-modulating activity increase expression of IDO, TGF-beta or IL-10 that is a factor having immuno-modulating activity, and augment the self phagocytosis and mitochondrial activity, thereby being useful as a cell therapeutic agent for treating immune diseases. |
