The present invention aims to provide a capacitive deionization electrode that has an excellent specific surface area and thus can increase specific capacitance. According to an embodiment of a technological idea of the present invention, a method for manufacturing the capacitive deionization electrode may include the steps of: making the surface of active carbon support a metal catalyst; performing catalytic gastification of the metal catalyst-supported active carbon by putting the active carbon in a reactor; synthesizing and growing planar carbon nanofiber on the surface of the active carbon, which is catalytically gasified, by injecting reaction gas comprising carbonization gas and reduction gas into the active carbon, which is catalytically gasified; and manufacturing the active carbon, including the planar carbon nanofiber grown thereon, into the capacitive deionization electrode. |
