According to one aspect of the present invention, a low stress hard coating and applications thereof is a coated cutting tool including: a coating having a ground substrate and a fire-resistant layer which deposits to bond to the ground substrate by a physical vapor deposition method. The fire-resistant layer includes: a cubic crystalline phase and M_1-xAl_xN where x is >= 0.68 and M is titanium, chromium or zirconium, and the coated cutting tool indicates a hardness of at least 25 GPa. |
