Heading C4P. α-Metal-free phthalocyanines are prepared by mixing a labile metal phthalocyanine and carbon dioxide, preferably in the gaseous phase. The word " labile " means that the metal of the phthalocyanine can be replaced by hydrogen in the process of the invention and the term phthalocyanine includes unsubstituted and substituted phthalocyanines. Alkali metal or alkaline earth metal phthalocyanines are used, e.g. Li, Na or K and solid carbon dioxide may also be used. The examples also describe preparation of the starting metal phthalocyanines. |
