[Also in Division C1] A support for use in gas chromatography which is stated not to require conditioning is produced by heating an acid-washed silanized diatomaceous silica, preferably one having a specific surface area of 0.2-0.4 m.<SP>2</SP> cc.<SP>-1</SP>, to about 325 ‹C. for ¢-6 hrs. before it is coated with the liquid phase, which is suitably a silicone gun or oil, suitably to the extent of 0.1-15% by weight of the final support. |
