The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and to a method for controlling the same. The present invention recognizes predictive charging interruption time for interrupting the charging of a battery by a user in consideration of a life pattern of the user if the battery starts to be charged. The present invention controls the charging speed of the battery so as to complete the charging of the battery before the current time gets the recognized predictive charging interruption time. The mobile terminal includes a battery; a memory which a condition for controlling the charging speed of the battery is set when the battery is connected to an external charging device; and a control unit which controls the charging speed of the battery so as to complete the charging of the battery. |
