A sealing system 10 comprises of a flexible strip 11 having an upper boundary (12 figure 2) and a lower boundary (13 figure 2), an inner face (14 figure 2) and an outer face (15 figure 2). The inner face (14 figure 2) has an upper region 16 and a lower region 17. The outer face (15 figure 2) has an upper region 18 and a lower region 19. The strip inner face (14 figure 2) and outer face (15 figure 2) is coated with a film (30, 60 figure 2) that allows tenacious adhesion between the strip 11 and an adhesive material 50, 51, 53. The strip inner and outer faces may be laminated films 30, 60 of cured silicone based liquid plasma/corona etched into the strip to create a mechanical bond to the strip. The etching of the laminate allows the sealant 50, 51, 53 to form a strong bond with the etched/film laminated portions of the strip. The strip may be polyethylene or polypropylene. |
