<p>An existing system for cooling a used fuel rod storage area has problems of increasing costs due to a separate high price auxiliary cooling system, of generating waste fuel rod melting in a case that electricity supply is stopped in an accident due to natural disasters (earthquake or typhoon) as the system is an active type which can be operated by only the electricity supply, of generating losses in a water holding amount, of potentially destroying the waste fuel rod in the used fuel storage area, and of causing radioactivity release to an environment. To solve the problems, the present invention provides a device for cooling used fuel storage area through a smart passive heat pipe module, which comprises: used fuel storage area(100), a smart passive heat pipe module (200), and a cooling top (300). The device of the present invention is capable of: operating an operation fluid through the smart passive heat pipe module to remove waste fuel rod melting and damage even though electricity supply is stopped due to an accident; promptly assembling and easily arranging the used fuel storage area and the cooling top; providing high resistance against radiation or chemical dissolution in approach with the used fuel storage area; and generating multiple loop structures having coaxial double circular tubes instead of installing multiple heat pipes in the used fuel storage area one on one, thereby improving cooling efficiency of the used fuel storage area by 70% compared to the existing system.</p> |
