<p>The device comprises throttle (6) formed transverse to a flow direction in a channel sliding segments (8), which are combinable with one another and with a displacement drive. The segments are flexibly connected with one another. The displacement drive of the segments is removable for assembly of other segments of the sliding segments and is again combinable with the other segments. An agent is also provided for holding the segments in their respective position. The segments are formed by ceramic elements or steel segments. Device for throttling hot, dust-laden stream of gases, particularly dust-laden hot cooling air from clinker cooler in a tertiary air channel of a clinker furnace. The throttling device is cost effective and works for long time without interruption of the operation.
