<p>PURPOSE: A steering column is provided to enable a column to stably collapse by preventing interference of peripheral components in a vehicle crash and to prevent injuries to a passenger's knees by enlarging a knee protection zone. CONSTITUTION: A steering column(100) comprises a block, a column tube(120), a housing(130), a mounting bracket, an operating unit(150), and an operation lever(170). The block protects a stirring shaft. The column tube covers the block. A column tube is inserted into the housing and has a cut part which is cut in the longitudinal direction. The mounting bracket is hinge-connected to the housing and fixes the housing on the car body. The operating unit selectively fixes the column tube tilts the housing from the mounting bracket. The operation lever is connected to the operating unit and controls the operation.</p> |
