摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crystal resonator in which generation of secondary vibration is suppressed.SOLUTION: In a crystal resonator 1, a drive section 11 having a mesa structure and a right triangular planar shape, for example, is provided on one side of a crystal piece 10 where thickness-shear vibration is the main vibration. One excitation electrode 21 is provided on the drive section 11, and an excitation electrode 22 corresponding to the excitation electrode 21 is provided on the surface of the crystal piece 10 opposite from the drive section 11. Secondary vibration of the crystal resonator 1 is contour shear vibration, and since the contour shear vibration is less likely to occur for a triangle, the effects of contour shear vibration on the main vibration of the crystal resonator 1 can be suppressed by the shape of the drive section 11. Consequently, a crystal resonator 1 having stabilized frequency characteristics can be obtained.</p>
