PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electrochemical device that may have only small change in capacitance and internal resistivity after reflow and float testing; and an electrode active material suitable for use therein.SOLUTION: The electrode active material is formed by applying a silane coupling agent having an amino group to active carbon or polyacene. The silane coupling agent having an amino group is preferably a compound represented by the general formula Si(OR)R-Z-NX. Also provided is an electrochemical device comprising this electrode active material.
