SHAFT COUPLING ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR COUPLING SHAFTS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shaft coupling configuration including a hollow intermediate shaft that can access only one side.SOLUTION: The invention provides a coupling assembly for connecting two shafts. A first shaft includes an outward flange on one end thereof with first holes penetrating through the outward flange. A second shaft includes an inward flange on one end thereof with second holes penetrating through the inward flange. The coupling assembly includes: a coupling bolt with threads; a first nut engaged with the first end; a second nut engaged with the second end; and an expansion sleeve with a tapering inner hole. The second nut is formed with one end thereof having a threaded hole and with the other end closed, and a different-profile hole is centrally formed on the closed end. The coupling bolt is formed with a through hole along the central axis thereof.
