PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly determine the finish of the S-poisoning recovery of a limit current sensor which is deteriorated by SO2 by a control device of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: When a ratio of a reference area Ar and an S-poisoning area As=S-poisoning area/reference area is not higher than a prescribed determination value out of output currents from after raising an application voltage to a limit current sensor up to 0.8 V from 0.4 V until the voltage is lowered to 0.4 V, it is determined that S-poisoning recovery has finished.
