1353248 Desulphurizing gases STONE & WEBSTER ENG CORP 19 April 1971 [20 March 1970 18 Jan 1971] 24424/71 Heading C1A H 2 S, CO 2 , carbonyl sulphide, low molecular mercaptans and mixtures thereof are removed from gases which do not contain SO 2 by treating the gases with aqueous sodium and/or potassium hydroxide; reacting the resultant liquid with aqueous sulphuric acid to liberate the acidic gases; stripping the liberated acidic gases and regenerating the sulphuric acid, which may contain sulphate and the alkali metal solution by electrolysis for recycling to the process.
