Details of timing synchronization in a wireless communications system are disclosed. As an embodiment, a transmission unit creates and transmits a data packet including a preamble signal, a start frame delimiter (SFD), and a data payload. The preamble signal includes one or more synchronization sequences having a first shift between synchronization sequence blocks. Each synchronization sequence block includes a repetitive fundamental sequence having a second shift between fundamental sequences. In addition, each fundamental sequence includes one or more cycles. A receiver detects the presence of a data packet in the air based on a received base band signal. When the data packet is detected, the receiver determines the start point of the preamble signal, and shifts a quench waveform having an over quenching rate of 1 through comparison with the start point of the preamble signal to synchronize the peak of each pulse of the preamble signal with the sensitivity region of the receiver.
|
