<p>The present invention relates to a method for transmitting and receiving characters using an MHL interface, which is capable of transmitting and receiving UTF-8-encoded characters supported by MHL 2.0 even in a conventional apparatus that supports a scratch pad register supporting a version less than MHL 2.0. According to the present invention, the method for transmitting and receiving characters using an MHL interface comprises: a first step of generating a UTF-8 character code corresponding to an input character when the character is input to a transmitting device; a second step of allowing an MHL of the transmitting device to request input request interrupt to a scratch pad register of an MHL of a receiving device; a third step of allowing the MHL of the receiving device to transmit input approval interrupt for the input request interrupt to the MHL of the transmitting device; a fourth step of allowing the MHL of the transmitting device to input the UTF-8 character code to the scratch pad register of the receiving device when the input approval interrupt is received; and a fifth step of allowing a processor of the receiving device to decode the UTF-8 character code input to the scratch pad register of the receiving device in the fourth step.</p> |
