The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus to perform authentication using an online image. The authentication method using an image according to the present invention includes the steps of: receiving a registration image used as a reference during authentication; composing authentication information from feature information of the received registration image; generating and storing authentication data by paring the registration image with the authentication information; calling the authentication data by responding to the reception of a contrast image for authentication; extracting comparison information corresponding to the authentication information included in the authentication data from the contrast image; and determining whether authentication is performed or not by comparing the authentication information with the comparison information. The method and the apparatus for authentication are able to minimize the theft risk of authentication by a third party. |
