摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently detect failure of an EGR valve while suppressing deterioration of mountability of an EGR valve to an automobile and increase of the cost of an EGR device without increasing a size and a capacity of an electric EGR valve.SOLUTION: A failure detecting device for an EGR device of an engine 1 includes an electronic control unit (ECU) 50 for determining failure of an EGR valve 18 based on an intake pressure detected by an intake pressure sensor 51 in accordance with operation of the EGR valve 18 during deceleration fuel cutoff of the engine 1. The ECU 50 adjusts the intake pressure in an intake passage 3 on the downstream side of a throttle valve 21 to a direction in which negative pressure is reduced by controlling an electronic throttle device 14 (throttle valve 21) provided in the intake passage 3, and forcibly opens the EGR valve 18 from a valve open state after adjustment, and determines the failure of the EGR valve 18 based on the change of the negative pressure of the intake pressure detected by the intake pressure sensor 51 before and after the valve opening.</p>
