<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly protect an occupant from lateral collision including lateral collision from an oblique front direction by suppressing an impact load added to the occupant.SOLUTION: A side air bag device 20 includes: a side air bag 22 which is accommodated in a lateral part of a seat bag 10b, close to a door side, and is inflated and developed between a door and an occupant M sitting on a seat 10 at the time of vehicle collision; and an inflator 28 which supplies inflation gas into the side air bag 22. The side air bag 22 includes: a first chamber 24 which receives direct supply of the inflation gas from the inflator 28 through a flow passage 30 to be inflated and developed between the door and lateral sides of a shoulder part s, a chest part b, and an abdominal part c of the occupant M; and an additional chamber 26 which is arranged at the height corresponding to the shoulder part s of the occupant M and provided forward in a vehicle traveling direction with respect to the first chamber 24, and communicates with the first chamber 24 through a vent hole.</p> |
