PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel single-phase brushless motor in which the reliability of motor start is improved.SOLUTION: A single-phase brushless motor includes a stator and a rotor rotatable for the stator. The rotor includes a plurality of permanent magnetic poles. The stator includes a stator core and a winding wound around the stator core. The stator core includes an outer annular portion, an inner annular portion, and a connection for connecting the outer annular portion and inner annular portion. The winding is wound around the connection. The rotor is housed in the inner annular portion. The inner annular portion and rotor form a substantially uniform void. A recess is formed in the inner surface at a part of the inner annular portion between each adjacent pair of connections. Center of each recess deviates from the symmetry center line of corresponding pair of connections.
