Particles receiving hot gas are stacked in a heat exchange bed above a perforated floor. Particles can trickle slowly through floor, and fall onto an inclined wall of louvres, through which the gas enters horizontally before turning upwards to enter heat exchange bed. The particles, temporarily trapped in the louvres, constitute a filter bed, those which pick-up impurities being segregated, when the escape from the lower end of the inclined louvred wall, into a separate circuit containing a separator.
|
