The present invention relates to a user authentication method, an apparatus performing the same and a recording medium storing the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a user authentication method performed by a user authentication apparatus comprises the steps of: detecting a facial region and facial features using respective frame images of image data when the image data of a user is received from an imaging device; matching the facial region with a specific facial template to perform facial authentication; detecting whether the user blinks using an image in an eye region extracted by using the facial features, and checking whether a password recognized according to the blinking state corresponds to a preset password; and determining that the user authentication was successful depending on a result of the facial authentication and a result of the password authentication. Therefore, the convenience and accuracy of user authentication may be provided at the same time by combining authentication based on a user face included in an input image with the authentication of a password recognized according to a blinking state included in a facial region. |
