<p>The present invention refers to a process for manufacturing a novel cellular ceramic material from mud resulting from a plant for purifying a clay mixture. The process for manufacturing the ceramic materials comprises: 1) drying the mud and clay, 2) milling the mud and clay, 3) sieving the mud and clay and 4) manufacturing the cellular ceramic materials and 5) cooking the cellular ceramic materials. The cellular ceramic materials obtained by this process may be used in the construction industry as light materials and aggregates for light concretes; in addition the invention may be used as a support of catalysts for the catalytic reduction of NOx and as a filter for gases and water. These materials present a low density and a high resistance to compression, properties that result useful in sustainable edifications. Finally, the invention allows raw material costs to be substantially reduced.</p> |
