The objective of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal display device which has excellent color reproducibility. A liquid crystal display device according to the present invention comprises a non-white light source, a rear-side polarizer, a liquid crystal cell and a front-side polarizer in this order. This liquid crystal display device also comprises a light conversion layer, which performs wavelength conversion of light that has transmitted through the front-side polarizer, at a position closer to the viewing side than the front-side polarizer. |
