PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-free piezoelectric material having a high mechanical quality factor and satisfactory piezoelectric characteristics with little variation in the piezoelectric characteristics in an operating temperature range.SOLUTION: A piezoelectric material includes: a main component containing a perovskite-type metal oxide represented by the general formula (1) defined by (BaCa)(TiZrSn)O, where x, y, z and a satisfy 0.09≤x≤0.30, 0.025≤y≤0.085, 0≤z≤0.02 and 0.986≤a≤1.02; and Mn, Li and Bi. The Mn content is from 0.04 pt.wt. to 0.36 pt.wt. inclusive in terms of the metal based on 100 pts.wt. of the metal oxide, the Li content α is 0.0012 pt.wt. or less (including 0 pt.wt.) in terms of the metal based on 100 pts.wt. of the metal oxide, and the Bi content &bgr; is from 0.042 pt.wt. to 0.850 pt.wt. inclusive in terms of the metal based on 100 pts.wt. of the metal oxide. |
