PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and a display control method that guide a user to a standing position in a manner easy for the user to understand for taking a photo at the optimal standing position.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus of the present invention includes: imaging means for photographing a user as a photogenic subject; and display means for displaying a live view for the image photographed by the imaging means. As a guiding image for guiding the user to a standing position, the imaging apparatus also allows the display means to display an image containing a scene in which a person changes the standing position, with an optical axis almost the same as the imaging means for photographing a specific area of the user from the height almost the same as the imaging means by the same or different imaging means. The present invention can ba applied to a photograph seal creation device that prints a photographed image on seal paper.
